Vaso / Tumbler

Este es un pequeño vaso cerámico que siempre olvido fotografiar.
This is a small ceramic tumbler I consistently forget to photograph

Me encanta este vasito verde, lo uso todo el tiempo.
I love this little thing, use it all the time.

Fuentecita / Smallish platter

Acá les muestro una pequeña fuente. Esta hecha en cerámica mezclada con manganeso. La decoración está hecha a mano alzada con pigmentos naturales.
Here you can see a smalish ceramic/manganese platter made. I made the paiting by hand with mineral pigments.

Porta ovillos cerámico / Ceramic ball holder

Hace bastante que vi estos porta ovillos en algún blog, y la verdad que me gustaron. ¿Qué mejor, entonces, que hacerlos yo misma?
I've been eyeing this yarn holders for a while in different blogs. I really like them.
So why not do it myself?

Acá se los presento. Viene bárbaro para poner el ovillito ahí en vez de hacerlo rodar o tenerlo dentro de una bolsa.
So here it is. It's great for putting the yarn ball/cake in, instead of having it roll around, or to stash it in a plastic bag.


Se pone el ovillo dentro del bowl y se pasa por la ranura. Desde allí se va sacando el hilado.
You put the yarn inside the bowl and thread it through the slit. You then pull the yarn through there.

¿Necesario? No.

Neccesary? No.

¿Lindo? Siiiii!

Beautiful? YES!

Pasta de gres con esmalte de alta temperatura. Torneado manual en torno alfarero. Cocción de inducción.

Handthrown stoneware, high temperature glazing. Induction kiln.

Salió más lindo de lo que se ve en la foto. Me hubiera gustado más largo, pero hasta ahí daba el material y no quería comprar más. La tira delantera podría haber sido más floja.
It is nicer than it shows in the picture. I would have liked it to be longer, but that is as much yarn as I had, and I dind't want to buy another hank. The front band could hab been looser, too.

La verdad que cumple su propósito en un 100%. Lo que yo quería era un chalequito para llevar al taller de alfarería y poder tornear sin morirme de frío y sin tener que llorar si se me mancha el chaleco. Esta maravilla, va del taller al lavarropas y a otra cosa.
All in all, it fits its purpose completely. What I wanted was a small vest to take to my pottery workshop, something I could wear to work at the heel without freezing, and without shedding tears over a stain. This beauty goes straight from wheel to washing machine.

Placa cerámica / Ceramic plate

Es una placa que hice en cerámica, teñido con pigmentos naturales con apariencia envejecida. Parece un resto de alguna construcción antigua.
Ahora trabaja de jabonera en mi bañera.


Do you like this? It's a ceramic plate I stamped and decorating using natural pigments to give it a vintage look. To me it looks like it is part of the remains of an old building.
It now works as a soap holder for my tub.

High cone, stoneware mate, mottled beige glazing. Currently in the possession of my dear friend Carina, blogless (and oblivious about this one).

Fuente / Platter

Les muestro este plato que hice en el taller. Es un plato de torta, o centro de mesa, rústico.
Está hecho en gres, pintado con pigmento de cobre, y en las rajaduras tiene esmalte Duncan negro metalizado y algo de pasta de oro.
This is a platter I did in the workshop. It's rustic a serving platter, or centerpiece. It's stoneware, painted with copper pigment. The cracks are stained with metallic black Duncan enamel and rubbed with some gold paste.

Hojas / Leaves

Nunca sé bien que hacer con el saquito del te una vez que lo saco de la taza. ¿Lo aplasto en el platito para que me encharque la base de la taza? ¿Lo apoyo en otro lado y ensucio otra cosa? ¿Me levanto a tirarlo a la basura en vez de tomarme mi te de una buena vez? Ufa. Así que me hice estas hojitas de gres específicamente para apoyar elegantemente mi saquito usado. ¿No son hermosas?
I never quite know what to do with those pesky tea bags after taking them of my cup. Do I squish them in my saucer so they make a tea pond and wet the base of the cup? Do I place it somewhere else, therefore wetting yet some other area? Do I get up and go throwing them on the garbage can instead of enjoying my tea? So there, I made this nice stoneware leaves secifically for the purpose of being used tea bag holders. Aren't they beautiful?

Esta jarra está hecha en torno alfarero, en gres, con esmalte de alta temperatura en tonos de marrón jaspeado.
I threw this jug out of stonware, with a high temperature mottled beige glaze.

Crónica V / Chronicles V

Desde el bunker, día 5 / From the bunker, day 5

Hoy viene un poquito más largo. Acá estoy, sintiéndome mejor. Ayer terminé de leer el libro que les mencioné. Excelente, si les gusta la ciencia ficción, no dejen de leerlo.
De paso les cuento que estoy leyendo "La enfermedad como camino". Bastante duro, por cierto.
A bit longer today. Here I am, feeling better. Yesterday I finished reading the book I told you about. If you like science fiction, I totally recomend it.
By the way, I'm reading "Illness as a path". Quite hard reading.

Ah, también miré una peli en DVD: "ojos bien cerrados". Me pareció entre aburrida y detestable. Blah.
Oh, I also watched a movie: "Eyes wide shut". I can't decide if it was boring or just plain bad. Blah.

Y para mostrarles algo lindo, estos son algunos de los cuencos que le regalé hace tiempo (bastante tiempo) a mi amiga bandida. Torneados y esmaltados por mí, obvio!
And just for eye candy, these are some bowls I I gave my friend bandida some time (quite some time!) ago. Hand thrown by me, obviously!

Tetera / Teapot

A veces caigo en la cuenta de qué poco posteo sobre alfarería en este blog. Y a pesar de que la alfarería es para mí un espacio creativo tan importante. De modo que trataré de postear más a menudo sobre este tema.
I often realize how little I post about pottery. And yet it is for me, such an important creative outlet. So I'll try to post more frequently on the subject.

Hoy les muestro esta tetera que hice en mi taller de alfarería. Desde que la hice, aprendí a disfrutar más del te. Sólo para poder usarla, ya que me parece divina. El asa al costado es un motivo japonés.
También los pequeños bowls los hice yo. Son de un tamaño adecuado para las mermeladas y el quesito.
Today I'll show you this teapot I made in my pottery workshop. Since I made it, I've learnt to enjoy tea a little more. Just so I can use it, since I love it so much. The sideways handle is a japanese motif.
I've also thrown the small bowls, more appropriate for some jam or cream cheese.

Agujas y algo más / Needles and an extra

Lo prometido: agujas de la Feria Artesanal. Son todas agujas de dos puntas de madera de guatambuy: un set de Nº 4 de 40 cm de largo, otro Nº 6 de 20 cm y otro de Nº 3 también de 20 cm.
As promised, the needles I got at the Fair. All of them DPN guatambuy wood. Three sets, Nº 4 and 40 cm long; Nº 6, 20 cm long, and Nº 3, 20 cm long.



Además de dos lindas agujas de coser lana, que siempre se me pierden. Plus two different tapestry needles, which I insist in losing.

Gracias a todas por sus mensajes y su aliento. Les cuento que pude tejer bastante poco durante esta semana del horror, pero si estuve haciendo algunas cosas en el taller de cerámica. No sé qué haría si no pudiese meter las manos en el barro de vez en cuando. En este blog tiene mucha más preponderancia el tejido, supongo que por su inmediatez y disponibilidad.
Thank you so much for your messages and ecouragment. I really couldn't knit during this horror week I had, but I was able to go to my pottery workshop. I don't know what I would do if I were unable to sink my hands into the mud every so often. I realize how knitting oriented this blog is, yarn is so much more immediate and available to me.

Hoy tengo para mostrarles unas tazas grandes de café con leche (o sopa) que hice en el taller.

Estas tacitas ya tienen dueño / These cups have a new owner

Les presento un par de tacitas de café hechas por mí en el taller. Estas dos se van a ir a vivir a lo de mi amiga Carina (que no hizo más que pedirlas y oh, allá van).

Here are a couple of coffe cups I made in my ceramics workshop. These two are going to live with my friend Carina (she just had to ask for them and lo and behold, there they go).
