Mini shawl texturado / Mini textured shawl

Hoy tengo para mostrarles este mini shawl que terminé hace algunos días. Como es habitual, no se me ocurrió mostrarles el proceso, sólo el producto terminado.
Today I can show you this minishawl that I finished a few days ago. As usual, I'm guilty of not showing you the process, just the finished item.


Lo tejí con parte de la merino que pinté a mano hace ya algún tiempo.
I used some merino handpainted by yours truly.

Me encantó el punto, es tan sencillo y, en estos colores, me hace pensar en un campo lleno de florcitas.
I love the the detailing, it's so easy to knit and, in these colors, it remains me of a green praire filled with flowers.


El único punto en contra de este mini shawl es que es bien mini. Se preguntarán por qué... bueno, es que este animal se masticó al menos 50 grs de merino. Antes de que me manden al veterinario, les aseguro que no se la traga, pero se la come como chicle. Además tiene buen gusto, no se acerca siquiera al acrílico, y tampoco le gusta el algodón.
All I have to be sorry about this is that it really is smallish. If you wonder why... well, this beloved animal chewed at least 50 gr of good merino wool. Before you send me running to the vet, I'll tell you he doesn't swallow it, he just chews on it as if it were gum. The thing has a taste too, he won't get near acrylic, and he doesn't like coton either.

Es un poco más pequeño que el original, sólo porque me cansé de tejerlo y decidí hacer 2 repeticiones menos.
It's a bit smaller than the original, because I tired of it and decided to skip the last two repeats before the border.

Y acá les muestro las perlitas que le bordé en algunas puntas. Apenas unas pocas. Estas perlitas me las regaló mi tía de 90 años, Nelly .

And here is a detail of some little pearls I embroidered on it (they are a gift from my 90 year old aunt, Nelly). Just a few.

¿Les gusta el motivo? Mi crítico oficial de tejidos (aka mi hermano) dice que se parece un poco al logo de Dominos Pizza (pero que igual es precioso).

Do you like the stitch pattern? My personal knitting critic (aka my brother) says that it is beatiful though it looks like the Dominos Pizza logo.

Lo tejí rapidísimo, es increible lo bien que le hacen al tejido unos días de obligado reposo.

I did it in record time, it's amazing how good a few days of medical leave are for one's knitting.

Lo tengo puesto hoy, en el que promete ser el último día del año con temperaturas respirables.

I'm wearing it today, in what seems to be the last breathable day of the year.

Vení verano si querés, que yo voy a estar tejiendo chales, gorros, sweaters y bufandas para cuando venga el invierno!!

Patrón / Pattern: Adamas, de MimiKnits

Hilado / Yarn: Alpaca, de Milana (dice ser sólo alpaca, pero me parece que tiene acrílico - it should be alpaca only, but I think there is some acrylic in there too)

Agujas / Needles: 3,75 mm

Mi opinión / My comments: es muy sencillo de tejer, el punto se memoriza enseguida, son sólo 10 hileras que se repiten hasta que te de la gana.

Very simple knit, it's only 10 rows that can be easily memorized and repeated at will.

Adamas

Qué les parece este shawl? Cuando termine va a ser un Adamas. Por ahora, es sólo un calado sin hormar (palabra que aprendí de mi amiga Gaby, después de romperme tanto la cabeza y no saber cómo decirlo, por fin encuentro una palabra que me cierra!)

How do you like this shawl? When it's done, it's going to be an Adamas. Right, now, it's just unblocked lace, so it doesn't look its best yet.



Ultimamente, estoy tejiendo chales solamente. En parte porque se viene el calor y los chales son prendas que puedo tejer sin acalorarme demasiado. Por otro lado, es porque no tengo ganas de tejer prendas, pretendo bajar unos kilitos y después me va a quedar todo grande (la esperanza es así de maravillosa).

Lately, all I'm knitting is shawls. On the one hand, because summer is just around the corner, and shawls are not so hot to have in my lap. On the other hand, I don't feel like knitting garments, I'm hoping to lose a few pounds and I don't want to knit things that will be too big (I hope!)

De paso pregunto: alguien tiene alguna fórmula para bajar de peso comiendo rico y sin hacer ejercicio?
By the way, does anyone know how to lose weight eating tasty food and without exercising at all?

Obvio que a mi no me va a pasar. Cuántas veces escuché (leí) que no hay que llevar calados a una reunión de tejedoras. Que te equivocás, que después tenés que destejer... Pero yo soy recanchera, a mi no me va a pasar.

Obviously it doesn't apply to me. How many times did I read that you don't take lace to a stitch and bitch. You make mistakes, you have to frog... But I'm so above the rest of you lousy knitters, it's not gonna happen to me, hear?

Cuánto hace que estoy tejiendo este shawl? Muuuuuchas, muchas, muchas semanas.

En fin, casi siempre les muestro las cosas cuando las terminos, hoy solamente puedo mostrarles cómo va quedando el punto, y los colores de la lana (seda y alpaca), a ver si me tiren onda para terminarlo!

Voy avanzando con el Liesl. Vaya color, no? Super energético para un verano ardiente, como el que seguramente tendremos en Buenos Aires para cuando lo termine...
I'm moving forward with my Liesl. What a splash of color, uh? Super energetic, to be worn in the steaming Buenos Aires summer soon to come.

Me gusta como va quedando. En la foto parece muy ajustado debajo del pecho, pero luce así porque estaba ajustando el cable de la aguja ya que los puntos querían escaparse. Este algodón con viscosa, además de suave y colorido, es rebaloso y difícil de dominar, ya que son un montón de hebritas finitas que se enganchan y se abren. GRRR!
I like how it's coming along. It looks quite snug under the chest area, but it's just that I was trying to keep the stitches from sliding of the needles. This cotton/viscose blend is so soft and the color is so wonderfully saturated, but it's also slippery and hard to tame, the gazillion threads that make up the yarn are prone to splitting up. Pros and cons!

Triángulo / Triangle shawl

Estoy tejiendo este triangulito para mi profesora del taller de cerámica, que es un amor de persona y me está pidiendo que le teja una chalina.
I'm knitting this triangle for my pottery teacher, who's a dear and has been asking me for a shawlette/scarf

Visto que se está acercando la época del calor, decidí tejerlo con cinta.
Estoy haciendo un simplísimo triángulo, lazadas en la espina central y a cada lado, en cada vuelta del derecho. Tejer con esta cintita es, lamentablemente, una pesadilla.
Since we are approaching the warmer season, I've decided to knit it with ribbon. I'm doing the simplest triangle, yarnovers on the middle line, and one each side, every right side row. Knitting ribbon is a nightmare though.


Como siempre, me pone nerviosa tejer para otra persona. ¿Le gustará, valdrá la pena mi trabajo?
As usual, I'm a bit nervous about knitting for somebody else. Will she like it? Will my efforts be worth it?

Los colores me encantan, quizás no los usaría para mi, pero me parece que le van a quedar bien a ella. En fin, ya veremos...
I love the colores. Maybe not for myself, but I think they'll be nice for her complexion. Well, we'll see...

¿Qué puedo estar tejiendo? Un mameluco de los anaranjados, antiradiación?

Ready, done, finito. In three days, no less.

Eso sí, no estoy en condiciones de sacarme fotos modelando (malvada gripe!) y voy a tener que conformarlas con una foto del blocking (y de paso, les presento a mi colchón).
That said, I'm in no condition of show you a modeled photo (darnded flu!) so I'm going to have to ask you to settle with a blocking shoot. And, by the way, meet my mattress :-)
