Medias de verano
Estas medias las empecé en octubre del año pasado, pero las terminé en junio, durante mi viajecito a Uruguay.
Son muy bonitas, y la composición del hilado es 50% algodón y 50% lana.
Lindas para la temperatura de Buenos Aires, pero en el fondo me desilusionaron un poco, la poca elasticidad del algodón hace que se deslizen por la pierna. Hmmm, no lo recomiendo para nada!

Uruguay
Les cuento mi fin de semana en Uruguay.
A brief recount of my weekend in Uruguay.
Para empezar, miren esta foto. Qué triste se nos ve, no? Bueno, ese fue el tono general del viaje.
To begin with, look at this picture. Boy, we look so sad. That's the general tone of the trip.
(Yo luzco mi Eliina shawl y mi Simple vest, Virginia luce su Otoño Shawl).
(I'm wearing my Eliina shawl and a Simple vest, Virginia is wearing her Otoño Shawl).
Miren lo feo que lo pasamos en el outlet de Manos del Uruguay, donde sólo había tres cajones como este:
See how bad it was at Manos del Uruguay's outlet, where there were only tree other bins like this.
Miren pobre mi amiga Alba (que tan, pero tan bien nos recibió). Me dio algo de culpa verla hacerle pasar tan mal momento.
Look at my poor friend Alba (who received us so well and was such a gracious hostess). I felt kind of guilty putting her through this ordeal:
(¿no es genial el cartel?)
(isn't the poster great? It reads: "knitting is my yoga")
Miren lo terrible que fue para ella, que tuvo que pedirle a su propio retoño mayor que le hiciera la pata. Miren también el mal momento de Verito, que cara de horrible sufrimiento tiene! Me siento fatal, las cosas que les hago pasar a mis amigas...
See how terrible it was for her, she felt constraint to ask her own big bow for support.
See too the terrible time my friend Veriton had. Boy I'm terrible, the things I do to my friends...
Pero en fin, tampoco crean que comprar lanas (en Manos del Uruguay, Abuelita Yarns y Puro Punto, tres excelentes lugares para deleitar los ojos y las manos).
Anyway, don't you thint that all we did was yarn shopping (en Manos del Uruguay, Abuelita Yarns and Puro Punto, three excellent outlets for your knitting delight).
También hubo algo como esto:

Tengan miedo, tengan MUCHO miedo...
Be afraid, be VERY afraid...

Textured shawl
Hoy les muestro el Textured Shawl que terminé hace poquito.
Today I bring you the Textured shawl I recently finished.
Es muy sencillo de hacer, luce lindo, y es superabrigadito.
It's a very simple knit, nice looking and quite warm.
Ya se darán cuenta cuánto me gusta, el segundo que tejo (el otro es este).
You'll imagine how much I like it, since it's the second one I knit (this is the other one).
Lo tejí con dos madejas de alpaca de color parecido, una petróleo y la otra azul marino, lo cual le dio una linda profundidad al color.
I used two different color skeins of aplca, one in a nice petrol color, and the other in navy blue. It turned out that both yarns together produced a nice blend of a quite interesting shade o blue.

Aventuras en tunecino / Tunisian adventures
A veces me aburro de todo, y qué mejor entonces que probar una técnica nueva?
Sometimes I get bored of everything, what could be better, then, than trying a new technique?
Me entusiamé con dos cuadraditos de tejido tunecino. Uno tejido como un aburrido cuadradito:
I was having some fun with two squares of tunisian crochet. One of them is done in a boring horizontal stitch (still nice, though):
y el otro en forma oblicua:
and the other as a V:
Después los uní con unas vueltitas de crochet, y me quedó una hermosa agarradera bien útil. Porque salió bien gordita, entre que el tunecino usa mucho hilado y que es doble... ahora no me quemo más los deditos!
I then crocheted both squares together and I now have a beautiful and useful potholder.
It's quite thick: the technique eats up a lot of yarn, and it's double to top it all. Now I won't get my little fingers burnt any more!
Lástima que como me gusta mucho no la quiero usar!
To bad though, I like it a lot and don't want to use it for real!
