Acá posteo un par de fotos del error de las mangas.
I'm posting here a couple of photos showing the error in my sleeves for the Hey Teach


Fìjense que en la primera, donde marquè con amarillo, el calado termina justo en el borde de la manga.
In this first picture, you can see where I circled in yellow, that the lace ends right up the sleeve.

En esta foto pueden ver, de nuevo en amarillo, que terminè el calado antes del borde y hay varias vueltas de jersey.
Here, however, you can see that the yellow part I finished the lace before the ending, so there are a few rows of stockinette right ther.

¿Destejo o dejo?

Estoy a punto de terminarlo, tendría que coserlo y hacerle la banda frontal. Y recién me doy cuenta de que las mangas son algo... distintas (un poco me lo sospeché mientras tejía, pero no pude parar)
I'm this close to finishing, I just need to saw it up and do the button bands. And only now do I realize that the sleeves are slightly... well, different (I kind of suspected this while knitting, but I couldn't stop)

Qué se hace cuando una llega al final de una prenda y descubre la diferencia entre las mangas? Eh?
Son prolijas y destejen o hacen la gran Andrea y cierran los ojos. Total, no se va a notar... total, es un cachito nomás... total, quien me va a mirar la inserción del hombro y la escápula comparando lado de derecho e izquierdo?
What is to be done when you reach the end of a garment and you discover all the glorious differences between both sleeves? Uh?
Are you all tidy and unravel, or do you do as I do and close your eyes? Anyway... nobody is going to notice... anyway it's just a little bit... anyway, who is going to look that closely to my shoulder joints to compare left and right?

Mujeres desesperadas / Desperate women

Hace algún tiempo que estoy leyendo cada vez más blogs escritos por mujeres. Hay de todo, las que hablan de algún tema en particular, las que escriben sobre pensamientos sueltos, sobre su vida en general. Las hay casadas, solteras y divorciadas. Madres e hijas. Amas de casa y mujeres que trabajan fuera de casa. Jóvenes y maduras.
Some time ago I started reading blogs written by fellow women. There's a bit of everything out there. There are women who share a particular interest of theirs, there are those who share their thoughts, their life events. There are married, single, divorced women. There are mothers and daughters. Housewifes and women who work outside the house. Young and middle-aged.

Muchos de esos blogs me parecen muy interesantes; otros no. Lo cual está muy bien, para mi y para ellas.

Many of those blogs I find interesting. Others do not resonate with me. Which is alright for me and for them too.

Pero lo que noto desde hace algún tiempo es la proliferación de mujeres enojadas. Agresivas, peleadoras, gritonas. Y me pregunto, qué es lo que pasa con ellas. ¿Están en serio tan enojadas? ¿O es que el mundo de los blogs nos da permiso para ventilar las frustraciones que no podemos resolver en la vida diaria? Me asombra leer diatribas furibundas porque les comieron un yogur, o porque no les gusta la coca light, o porque un vecino hace ruido.

Son los blogs del griterío hueco y neurótico, o la válvula de escape de la mujer desesperada ante el mundo patriarcal que no las deja gritar en la vida real?
But the thing I have been noticing lately is the appearance of so many angry women. Agressive, quarrling, shouting women. And I wonder what is going on with them. Are they really that angry? Or maybe it's the blogging world itself that lets us vent and deal with the frustration we cannot deal with in our daily lives. I'm a bit amazed after reading so many inflammatory posts telling us that someone ate their yogurt, that they hate diet coke, or a neighbour is being noisy.
Is this just some neurotic shouting into the void? Or is this some kind of outlet for the desperate women oppressed by the patriarchal society that won't let them express their anger in real life?

Caveat emperor:
No pretendo que nadie se calle, ni que nadie escriba para satisfacer mis gustos personales.
Sólo me hacen pensar.
I'm not advocating that they shut up in any way, or that they write to suit my tastes. I just find it thought provoking.

Este punto fue super trabajoso, una introduccion al encaje de Estonia. Miren los knupps (varios puntos, siete en este caso, tomados juntos, retorcidos y vueltos a tejer. Quién lo hubiera dicho!)
Quite hard, it was an introduction to Estonian lace (look at the 7 stitches knupps. Who would have thought I could do that?)

Esta sección fue fácil y zzzzzzzzzz aburrida.
This was an easy and extremely boooooring section.

Esta me gusta, onda cola de pescado, no?
I like this one. Kind of a fish tail, right?

Gracias a todas por sus mensajes y su aliento. Les cuento que pude tejer bastante poco durante esta semana del horror, pero si estuve haciendo algunas cosas en el taller de cerámica. No sé qué haría si no pudiese meter las manos en el barro de vez en cuando. En este blog tiene mucha más preponderancia el tejido, supongo que por su inmediatez y disponibilidad.
Thank you so much for your messages and ecouragment. I really couldn't knit during this horror week I had, but I was able to go to my pottery workshop. I don't know what I would do if I were unable to sink my hands into the mud every so often. I realize how knitting oriented this blog is, yarn is so much more immediate and available to me.

I don't really enjoy spring because I can no longer wear sweaters, scarves, gloves, cardigans, etc.

Hace rato que no había transmisión, eh?
Sin mucho detalle, estuve enferma, ambulancia de por medio, mucho reposo, sigo jodida pero circulante. En breve, resumimos la transmisión habitual.

Long time no see, uh?
Without getting into that much detail, I was quite sick, had to call in an ambulance on Saturday, I had to get some mandatory rest, I'm not well yet, but I'm around and kicking. Our usual stuff will be coming up soon.

¡Qué poco original! No pude resistir... acá está. La mayoría no necesitará que les diga que és. Pero para mis lectores y lectoras que no tejen, esto es (será) un Clapotis.
How unoriginal of me! I could not resist any longer... so here it is. Most of you won't need me to tell you what it is. To my non knitting readers: this is (or, hopefully, will be) a Clapotis.

Gatito o langostino? / Shrimp neck warmer?

Les muestro el gatito que tejí con Langostino
This is the smailsh neck warmer I knitted using "Langostino".



Saqué las instrucciones de este sitio / I used a pattern from this site (in Spanish).

Es muy útil, ya que el elástico doble tejido en cerca de las puntas hace que se sostenga solo y no tenga uno que andar arreglándose la bufanda a cada rato.
Quite useful, since the double rib knitted near the ends make this stay put all by itself and you don't need to keep adjusting it continously like a regular scarf.


Estoy redescubriendo las maravillas del humilde punto Santa Clara. Vean que maravilla estas montañitas parejas, preciosas.
I'm rediscovering the wonder of the simple, humble garter stich. Behold all these wonderful, slick little bumps:

Y la infaltable foto con modelo vivo (¡creo que la única razón por la que sigo tejiendo este tipo de cosas es para poder hacer la foto con Pancho!).
